The RT300 family of FES cycles for neuro rehab provides a FES solution that is applicable to a wide range of patients in hospital or clinic inpatient, outpatient or wellness settings. These products can also be prescribed for home use to maintain continuity of care for patients who require long term therapy.

The RT300 sets the standard in FES systems. It is the only technology with FES cycling for arms and legs that also provides trunk stimulation. No other FES cycle offers dynamic motor support and essential internet connectivity, both built into out SAGE smart stimulation system. Whats more, the RT300 is the only one suitable for children as young as 4 years old. By cycling and using your own arm and or leg muscles in the RT300 you can:

  • Relax muscle spasms
  • Prevent or retard disuse atrophy
  • Increase local blood circulation
  • Maintain or increase your range of motion

What is FES?

FES is a well-established rehabilitation technique that uses pulses of electrical current to simulate peripheral nerves ( the “lower” motor neurons) that connect the spinal cord to the muscles) generating muscle contractions and patterned muscle activity. FES us applied using adhesive pads placed over the muscle to be activated.

With restorative therapies systems, FES  creates patterned movement in the arms, legs and trunk. In people with weak  or paralysed muscles, FES enables muscles to work and perform actives. In addition, even if the individual may not be able to consciously participate. FES can facilitate muscle contractions and activity.  With out systems, you can simulate muscles on one or both sides of your body; whatever you need. You also have the ability to simulate your “core muscles” during the therapy session. These muscles are the erector spinal muscles in your back and your abdominal muscles. These muscles are important for many activities including posture, balance, transferring, reaching and coughing.

RT300 SL

The RT300 SL is the FES cycle for legs and core muscles.

Up to 12 channels of FES can be applied to your core and leg muscles while you leg cycle. Designed for at home or clinic use. Compact size makes the RT300 SL easily portable. Cycle securely from your chair or wheelchair.

Surface electrodes are placed on up to 10 muscle groups on one or both sides of your body. Select quadriceps, hamstrings, gluteals, lower leg muscles, abdominals and back muscles. Simply secure your feet in the pedals, support your legs using the adjustable leg guides, and enjoy a smooth, quiet cycling motion.

RT300 SLSA provides either FES leg or FES arm cycling.

This is a very flexible device that is used by leading clinics globally across a wide range of patient indications. Leg and arm cycle from a wheelchair without transferring or use a chair, plinth or balance ball.

Upper extremity and shoulder

Based on individual presentation for arm cycling you can select from biceps, triceps, anterior deltoid, posterior deltoid, grasp or wrist extensors / release.

Lower extremity

Based on individual presentation for leg cycling you can select from quadriceps, hamstrings, gluteals, gastroc and anterior tibialis.

For core strength and stability you can also select abdominal and back muscle groups (e.g erector spinae).

FES therapy for children

RT300 paediatric pedals are highly configurable to accommodate a wide range of orthopaedic issues. Children with neurological impairment have much to gain from FES activity based therapy as they are still growing and have higher levels of neuroplasticity.

Working with children and FES requires specialized knowledge and experience. Paediatric FES is a speciality or Restorative Therapies. We work with leading paediatric clinics to help ensure that our therapy systems are safely and effectively used with children to help them achieve their full potential.

RT300 Supine

RT300 Supine provides FES leg cycling from a bed and it is idea for use in the ICU, acute rehabilitation environments or for bedridden home patients. Supine FES cycling can help prevent muscle atrophy, improving skin condition and wound healing. The electric cart facilitates correct positioning over the end or side of the bed while restraints hold the system in position. Adjustable calf supports secure the legs while the feet are placed in the footrests. A pulley system controls leg abduction and adduction during therapy sessions.
